High Winds, Downed Trees Cause Outages

Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) reported Thursday night that U.S. 26 closure area has been extended. The highway was closed from Mt. Hood at milepost 57 to Warm Springs at milepost 87 due to extreme wind and downed trees.

“We will open the highway when it is safe to do so, avoid the area,” according to ODOT. U.S. 97 is closed between the U.S. 197/Maupin junction and Shaniko at milepost 62 due to spun-out vehicles and crashes. Delay travel if possible. More Info Here

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a tree and power lines down in the 200 block of South Ash St in Sisters. Power lines were reported  down and blocking S. Ash St between W. Hood and W. Washington St, a portion of W. Washington between S. Ash St. and S. Oak St. and W. Hood Ave is blocked at S. Ash St.   CEC is on scene, along with Sisters Public Works working on these hazards.   There is a power outage to portions of the South side of the city of Sisters.   Citizens are being asked to avoid the area on foot and by vehicle until the crews can make the area safe.  There are no reported injuries and unknown property damage at this time.
