Voters in Deschutes County and throughout Oregon decided on a number of races and issues in Tuesday’s primary election. Early results show Phil Chang re-elected as Deschutes County Commissioner and the Bend La Pine School Levy failing. The latest Deschutes County results can be found here.
Phil Chang’ campaign director released the following news release after the commissioner was leading by more than 61 percent:
Phil Chang has been re-elected as Deschutes County Commissioner, marking a significant victory for non-partisan elections and problem solving. Having served since 2021, Chang’s leadership has been pivotal in addressing critical issues such as housing affordability,
environmental conservation, drought and wildfire resiliency, and the expansion of mental health addiction treatment services.
“I am honored by the trust the people of Deschutes County have placed in me,” said Chang. “Together, we will continue to build a healthy, resilient community where everyone can thrive.”
During his first term, Chang championed initiatives that modernized irrigation to support local agriculture, enhanced wildfire safety measures, and increased funding for mental health services. He helped oversee the opening of the Crisis Stabilization Center, the expansion of addiction treatment programs, and creation of the Healthy Schools Prevention Partnership Chang’s 2024 platform focused on creating needed housing without sacrificing our rural environment, expanding access to mental health and addiction treatment resources, and increasing the County’s resilience to wildfire and drought. He plans to continue working on these important issues facing Deschutes County in his next term so that our community can become even healthier and everyone can thrive.
